Not Chatting after all :(

Looks like they forgot about the chat over at Eve's Fan Garden.  I can't blame them as the last time, I was the one to forget.  I didn't get a link that should have tipped me off - but I did get an email, confirming the time and date.

Oh well.  If you showed up, I'm really sorry!

NEW UPDATE!  We did reschedule for Wednesday, March 30th at 8:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time!  I hope everyone will be able to make the new time.  I already received my link for next week - that's a good sign :)

  1. We usually get a chat invitation when an author is going to be on EFG. I didn't get one for you. Those gals are usually very on the ball. Hopefully it will get sorted out quick.

  2. Oh dear! I so wanted to meet you virtually.

I wanted to make sure you received my comments from Bitten By Books a few weeks ago so I'm reposting here:

(begins with answers to your 3 questions
    1) The Pop Cops in Trella’s world are always watching the scrubs. Considering
the recent airport body scans and other security methods of Homeland
Security, do you think this could be our future?

    2) If you were sharing a bunk with another and had only a single drawer to hold
your personal possessions, which three items would you keep?

    3) Do you believe one person can make a difference?)

    1) Maybe I studied too much Foucault in college, but I think we’ve long been in a Big Brother society where we each police the other in cultural and social ways, and internalize this public eye. This is only furthered by Twitter and facebook and the disintegration of public/private boundaries.

    2) My Kindle, my diary, and an infinitely-inked pen

    3) I’ve SEEN it happen and I’m thankful one person can.

Maria, Poison Study is my Novel Study – I’ve never seen a work of popular fiction structured so perfectly for a committed aspiring writer like me to learn from. Since then I’ve been a diehard supporter of your work, and am seriously considering your MFA program as well. Your work is instrumental in my development as a YA fantasy writer.

PLEASE please let us return to Ixia/Sitia one day in long-form format. I won’t be able to bear it if we can’t go back. (And yes, I definitely subscribe to your newsletter!)

My question is: was there one specific moment when you said, “I can do this. I can be a novelist?”

  3. I was looking forward to your chat! Oh well, maybe you will try again sometime? (hint hint)

I second Sophia's request for more Ixia/Sitia novels! Poison Study is one of my favorite books, and there are so many wonderful characters in that world! :)

  6. It's nice to know that you were looking forward to chatting. We did reschedule for next Wednesday, March 30th at 8:30 p.m. EDT. I will update the post next.

LOL - I'm asked daily about more books in the Ixia/Sitia world. And I'm interested in a bunch of characters from the Glass books - Heli, Quinn, Fisk, Reema and Teegan that I will return someday :) I'd also like to do a prequel of sorts with Valek - write the book from his point of view and flash back to the time before the Commander took over - what do you think?

Sophia - sorry I missed your comment on Bitten By Books - thanks for re-posting on my blog!

As for your question, I can't really pin point an exact time where I had an epiphany - it was more like I'm going to try to write a novel, I'm going to try to get it published and the new career just evolved. I do have times when I'm struggling with a book and will think there is no way I can do this. But then I calm myself with the knowledge that I have done it before and I can do it again.

  7. Like love the Valek idea! Sounds amazing. Let me know if you decide to do it :)

  8. Maria, when you're back from Texas, we can schedule a chat at All Things YA. I couldn't make it to your last 2 sessions--family in town+work+midterms = yipes!

  9. I'd love a story from Valek's point of view and flashing back to before the takeover (in Valek's point of view as well?) would give us more insight to the Ixia-Sitia relationship and tension. I'd read them all!
